How we write, and how we correct

Sources

Every sentence that gives a number has a source; sources are listed by number at the end of the article. Where possible we rely on peer-reviewed studies from the last five years, systematic reviews and expert consensus statements. Instead of saying "research shows", we write how many studies there are and what kind of studies they are.

We collect every source we use in one list.

Paper summaries

We write the summaries ourselves after reading the full text of the paper; we do not translate the paper's own abstract. In each summary you can find who the study involved, what it found, where it was limited and how strong the evidence is. Summaries are published in Turkish, English, French, Azerbaijani and Arabic.

Physician review

We submit health articles for review by a physician. The name of the reviewing physician is added to the article's byline with their written permission. The review concerns the content of the article; the physician does not recommend or endorse the Nefesly app.

Language

We write short sentences and avoid expressions of certainty. We do not frighten, diagnose or recommend treatment. When describing the app, we do not say it "detects", "diagnoses" or "treats".

Corrections

When we notice an error we correct it, and add the date and what we changed and why at the end of the article. To report an error, write to support@nefesly.com.

Sponsorship

Our articles contain no sponsored content. Organisations that support us do not see content before publication. For details, see our independence principles.

Languages

Most of our articles are written in Turkish first. The English, French, Azerbaijani and Arabic versions keep the same sources, numbers and evidence levels; where a page exists only in Turkish, we say so next to the link.
